The residents told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that they are forced to drink unfiltered water for drinking purposes from a nearby stream as the piped water supply is not available despite the claims of the department of supplying pure drinking water to the people. They said that the acute water shortage has mainly hit Chathan Gulabpora, Raina Pakhtoon Mohallah and adjoining localities of the village. They said they repeatedly requested the Jal shakti officials to resolve their issue to no avail. “We have to walk a kilometre to collect water,” said a local Rameez Ahmad while urging the department to get their issue addressed. An executive engineer at Jal Shakti department Jagmeet Singh assured the problem will be solved—(KNO) Up Next Father-Son duo among nine passengers killed as vehicle rolls into gorge at Zojila Pass|KNO Don't Miss J&K gets permission for movie shooting under Public Services Guarantee Act | KNO
